Last tickets are now available for our upcoming Carte Blanche concert on Thursday April 2, 2026 at 19:00. We warmly invite you to secure your seats while they last for this special evening with Tonhain Kollektiv’s own cellist Rainer Crosett and internationally acclaimed pianist Victor Santiago Asunción, who will be joining us all the way from Chicago. This concert offers an intimate preview of the program Rainer will present for his Carnegie Hall debut just a few days afterward.

The program opens with Beethoven - his Seven Variations on “Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen” from Mozart’s The Magic Flute (1801), a work full of witty dialogue between cello and piano. Next, the Venezuelan-American composer Reinaldo Moya will be featured in his Guayoyo Sketches for solo cello (2021). Inspired by Venezuelan coffee culture, the work paints three vivid scenes: the quiet solitude of morning, the languid lull of mid-afternoon, and the jittery intensity of a midnight work session. Through rhythmic playfulness and intimate storytelling, Moya crafts a musical portrait of everyday life in Venezuela.

Rounding out the program are two beloved works in the cello repertoire: Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata (1934), full of irony and drama; and César Franck’s Sonata in A major (1886), originally written for violin, but richly adapted for the cello in the well-known Delsart transcription.

We look forward to welcoming you soon at Tonhain.
